As part of the COVID-19 booster dose, Poles will receive Pfizer and Moderna vaccines regardless of which vaccines they previously received.

COVID-19 vaccinations are already well-known to Poles. However, we have adjusted to receiving two doses (Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca) or one (Johnson & Johnson). Following the latest recommendations of the Medical Council, it has become possible to receive a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. When will it be administered to Poles? Registration began in September 2021 for people struggling with severe immune disorders. Meanwhile, the second group of people eligible to receive a subsequent booster dose of the vaccine are those over 50 years of age and healthcare workers. Other individuals must be patient and wait for further information regarding dates and eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccination.

Another dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Who can receive it?
Not all people can receive the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The privilege of receiving the third dose of the vaccine was given to people from two groups. The first is people with very low immunity. These are individuals undergoing cancer treatment, as well as those after organ and stem cell transplants (within the last two years). This group also includes people with primary immunodeficiency syndromes or the HIV virus. Individuals on chronic dialysis due to kidney failure and those treated with drugs that suppress the immune response can also receive the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. People in this group must be at least 12 years old. Meanwhile, the second group includes all individuals over 50 years of age and medical workers at risk of contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus. How long before the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine?
A booster vaccination can be received after a certain period. People with severe immune disorders can receive the third dose as early as 28 days after the first (Johnson & Johnson) or second dose (Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca). This is a very short period, but safe for patients. Meanwhile, people over 50 years of age can be vaccinated only 6 months after the second (Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca) or first dose (Johnson & Johnson). The same rule applies to healthcare workers without age restrictions. Those working with patients can receive the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, also no earlier than after six months. For example, people who were fully vaccinated on April 1, 2021, will be able to get vaccinated no earlier than October 1, 2021.
Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as the third dose of the vaccine
The third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine can be received by people vaccinated with two doses of Pfizer, Moderna, and Astra Zeneca, and one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. All individuals authorized to receive another dose of the COVID-19 vaccination must have completed the full vaccination course with one of the above-mentioned vaccines. People in the group of patients with severe immune disorders will receive the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as their third dose. Meanwhile, people in the second privileged group (those over 50 and health care workers) will be vaccinated exclusively with the Pfizer brand vaccine, regardless of which vaccine they previously received.
Third dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine
Starting from November 2, all persons over 18 years of age can receive the third dose of the vaccine. Astra Zeneca is a vaccine that uses the vector method. This means a modified viral vector is used in it. The vaccine is designed to "teach" the immune system the correct reaction to a threat. During a coronavirus infection, the immune system identifies the enemy and initiates a defense mechanism. The body needs time for all this, so vaccinated people are better prepared for a potential infection and their symptoms will be milder.
The third dose of the COVID vaccine is available first for people with very weak immunity. This group includes patients with cancer or those after organ and stem cell transplants. The third dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccination should be administered 6 months after receiving the second dose. People with severe immune disorders will receive the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. The third dose of the vaccine is the so-called booster dose. Due to various coronavirus mutations, it is necessary to maintain one's immunity.
Third dose of the Pfizer vaccine - how to make an appointment?
The most popular vaccines include the Pfizer, Moderna, and Astra Zeneca preparations. To receive the third dose of the vaccine, it is necessary to have been vaccinated twice with these preparations. There are several ways to schedule the third dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Important information is that between December 2nd and 24th, 2021, you can get vaccinated without prior registration. Simply go to general vaccination points. Before vaccination, you are required to complete a screening questionnaire. It is possible to fill it out online or complete the questionnaire at the vaccination point. It is worth remembering that the EU COVID Certificate will be valid for one year from the date of receiving the third dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Third dose of the Johnson&Johnson vaccine
People who was previously vaccinated twice with Pfizer, Moderna, or Astra Zeneca preparations can sign up for a third dose of the vaccine. Johnson&Johnson is a vaccine that only required a single dose. People who received this company's preparation can go for another dose after 6 months. The third dose of the COVID vaccine is a necessity if we want our EU COVID Certificate to be extended for another year. This is a significant matter as more and more European countries are moving towards introducing so-called COVID passports. When registering for the third dose of the COVID vaccine, it is recommended to receive the same preparation as before. The booster dose, or third dose of the vaccine, is given to people who have completed a full vaccination cycle. First in line were people over 50 years of age and employees who had direct contact with COVID patients. Since November 2, all persons over 18 years of age can register to receive the third dose of the vaccine.
Third dose of the Moderna vaccine
The first vaccinations we received are primary doses. Their effectiveness wanes over time, which is why receiving a supplementary dose is so important. Its task is to counteract the declining effectiveness of the COVID vaccine. Administering a third dose of the Moderna vaccine is necessary if we want to maintain our immunity after receiving previous doses. People over 50 years of age are particularly at risk, which is why they have priority for receiving the third dose of the COVID vaccination. In addition to the booster dose, there is also a supplementary dose. This is a dose given to people who have very weak immunity due to comorbidities. Examples of such diseases include cancer; such patients are particularly exposed to the danger of coronavirus infection. The third dose of the Moderna vaccine is administered as half a dose - 0.25 ml. The vaccine we receive is determined by the preparation we received during the first COVID vaccinations.
